Just as NYU is strategically placed within perhaps the world’s most influential metropolis, New York City, the SCPA is also strategically located in the epicenter of consumer research, advertising, and top social psychology academic programs (NYU and Columbia). This allows for easier access to internships, follow-on job opportunities, and research assistance positions.
NYU’s Social and Consumer Psychology Specialization within its Psychology MA provides students the opportunity to share learning experiences with adjunct and full professors. The majority of classes in the MA program are taught by clinical and adjunct professors. This allows perspectives of both dedicated full-time teaching faculty and part-time faculty who are at the forefront of real-world application of the material which they teach. In addition, NYU has one of the strongest social psychology Ph.D. programs in the country. As a student at NYU, there are ample opportunities to take on research assistance positions within in the labs of the world-renowned research faculty. NYU students in the program also find positions in labs outside of the Psychology Department. They work in marketing labs at the NYU Stern School of Business and Columbia, neuropsychology labs at NYU Langone Medical Center, and a host of other research facilities across the city.
